Artline

The Gallery works extensively on various outreach programmes, collaborating with communities and organisations. Artline is one such recent collaboration.

Artline is a collaboration with Frontline Make Change, a charity providing addiction support services and early years services to vulnerable families in the community. Together with Frontline Children’s Project Team, we create monthly sensory workshops for the children of service users both in their early years childcare setting and at the Gallery.

The workshops are designed to support very young vulnerable children and their carers by offering hands-on artistic experiences that allow them to engage with the National Gallery’s collection on their own terms. Each session connects to the Gallery, helping to bridge the gap for the children and their families to engage with the arts in an inclusive space that may otherwise feel beyond their reach. All sessions are hands-on, and include exploring metals, music-making, creating frames, abstract painting, clay modelling and painting.
