Closure notice:

The National Gallery of Ireland will be closed to the public on Wednesday 14 October 2026 due to ongoing industrial action across the public sector. Further closures may be necessary at short notice. We encourage visitors to check our social media channels for the latest information before planning their visit.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank visitors for their understanding. 

 

Gallery opening hours

Monday: 11am – 5.30pm
Tuesday and Wednesday: 9.15am – 5.30pm 
Thursday: 9.15am – 8.30pm
Friday and Saturday: 9.15am – 5.30pm 
Sunday: 11am – 5.30pm

The Gallery, including temporary exhibitions, begins to close at 4.50pm daily (7.50pm on Thursdays), starting with the upper floors.

Monday: 11am – 5.15pm
Tuesday and Wednesday: 9.15am – 5.15pm 
Thursday: 9.15am – 8pm
Friday and Saturday: 9.15am – 5.15pm 
Sunday: 11am – 5.15pm

Gallery Café opening hours

Monday: 11am – 5pm
Tuesday and Wednesday: 9.30am – 5pm
Thursday: 9.30am – 8pm
Friday and Saturday: 9.30am – 5pm
Sunday: 11am – 5pm

 

Notes on opening hours

  • The Gallery is closed 24–26 December, inclusive, and Good Friday.
  • On 1 January, the Gallery will open from 11am - 5.30pm.
  • Opening hours are subject to change, and entry to the galleries ceases 15 minutes before the Gallery closes.
  • The Gallery, including temporary exhibitions, begins to close at 4.50pm daily (7.50pm on Thursdays), starting with the upper floors.
  • Admission to the permanent collection is free. Some temporary exhibitions carry a charge. Exhibitions are free for members.
