Gallery opening hours

VISITOR NOTICE SEPTEMBER 2026: Please note that from 5pm on Thursday 24 September, the only rooms accessible to visitors will be Rooms 1-5, Room 11 and Rooms 25- 30. We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause. 

Monday: 11am – 5.30pm
Tuesday and Wednesday: 9.15am – 5.30pm 
Thursday: 9.15am – 8.30pm
Friday and Saturday: 9.15am – 5.30pm 
Sunday: 11am – 5.30pm

The Gallery, including temporary exhibitions, begins to close at 4.50pm daily (7.50pm on Thursdays), starting with the upper floors.

Notes on opening hours

  • The Gallery is closed 24–26 December, inclusive, and Good Friday.
  • On 1 January, the Gallery will open from 11am - 5.30pm.
  • Opening hours are subject to change, and entry to the galleries ceases 15 minutes before the Gallery closes.
  • The Gallery, including temporary exhibitions, begins to close at 4.50pm daily (7.50pm on Thursdays), starting with the upper floors.
  • Admission to the permanent collection is free. Some temporary exhibitions carry a charge. Exhibitions are free for members.
