Opening hours

The National Gallery of Ireland is open 361 days a year, closing only on Good Friday, and from 24-26 December. Opening hours are subject to change, and entry to the galleries ceases 15 minutes before the Gallery closes.

Monday - Saturday  9.15am - 5.30pm
Thursday 9.15am - 8.30pm*
Sunday  11am - 5.30pm


  • On Thursday, 11 October the historic wings will close at 5.30pm. The Millennium Wing, Roderic O'Conor exhibition and Curious Creatures exhibition will remain open until 8.30pm. Access via the Clare Street entrance.
  • The Gallery will close at 5.30pm on Thursday 13 December

Admission to the permanent collection is free. Some temporary exhibitions carry a charge, and tickets can be purchased at the information desks at the Millennium Wing and Merrion Square entrances. Exhibitions are free for members
