Join us in the magnificent Shaw Room, and get creative!
Celebrate the Year of the Horse through a creative exploration of shape, movement, and imagination, led by Chun Zhu Wang.
Children will learn how the horse symbolises strength, energy, and good fortune in Chinese culture, and transform these ideas into playful handcrafted artworks — a gentle and inspiring way for families to welcome the new year together. For the activity, children will use card to create abstract horse-themed artworks inspired by Picasso’s cubist shapes. The workshop will use simple materials including scissors, colourful card, yarn or string, and glue sticks. This approach encourages sustainability, creativity, and a meaningful connection to both the Gallery’s collection and the Lunar New Year theme.
- Free, no booking required. Stay for as long (or as little) as you like.
- Families with children of all ages welcome.
- All materials provided.
- Languages spoken: Irish, English and Mandarin.
