This innovative website was designed and developed by an international project team to complement the exhibition Vermeer and the Masters of Genre Painting: Inspiration and Rivalry (2017), headed by the exhibition's curator, Dr Adriaan Waiboer.
This website reveals the intricate web of connections between Vermeer and sixteen other Dutch genre painters of the seventeenth century. Through interactive visualisations, users can explore which artists were connected and how strong those connections were, as well as which paintings served as inspiration for others.
