A special talk with Dr Elizabeth Cowling, Professor Emerita of Art History at the University of Edinburgh.
Using printed papers, packaging, scrap wood and found objects, Picasso created numerous Cubist collages, papiers collés and three-dimensional constructions in 1912-15. At later moments during his long career, he returned to this hands-on method of making art, exploiting his unique ability to improvise and transform. Works in the exhibition entailing assemblage will be among those discussed in the lecture.
The exhibition is organised by the National Gallery of Ireland in collaboration with the Musée national Picasso-Paris.
Proudly supported by KPMG Ireland, Exhibition Partner.
The Gallery would like to thank the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport for their ongoing support.
