Picasso: Finding, Transforming, Constructing

23 October 18.30 - 19.30

Location

A special talk with Dr Elizabeth Cowling, Professor Emerita of Art History at the University of Edinburgh, in association with our exhibition Picasso: From the Studio.

Using printed papers, packaging, scrap wood and found objects, Picasso created numerous Cubist collages, papiers collés and three-dimensional constructions in 1912-15.  At later moments during his long career, he returned to this hands-on method of making art, exploiting his unique ability to improvise and transform. Join us for this special talk with Dr Elizabeth Cowling, who will look at examples of works in the exhibition that use this type of assemblage.
