‘Dermot is a well-known and liked resident of Cahersiveen, Kerry and a very talented artist. His intense interest in art led to us having long conversations in local cafés. I have tried to capture his intelligence and depth of understanding of life in his expression. The medium of egg tempera is wonderful for painting the detail in the skin and creating a sense of depth through
multiple layers of tiny strokes of contrasting colours.’
