Free, no need to book

Part of our Thursday Lates event, inspired by our autumn exhibition, Hilma af Klint: Artist and Visionary.

Artist Jen O'Brien will lead this drop-in workshop in the Gallery café, inspired by the botanical works of Hilma af Klint. Suitable for all ages, all materials provided.

Taking inspiration from af Klint’s process, her studies and explorations of flowers, participants will explore colour and abstraction to build their own symbol library of shapes, textures and colour. Follow imaginative prompts, experiment with wet-on-wet watercolour, intuitive mark making and collage. Bring together your symbolic elements to create an abstract collage with your collection!

How far would a flower go? When does a flower become something else entirely?

All ages welcome!

Hilma af Klint: Artist and Visionary is organised in collaboration with The Hilma af Klint Foundation.

Presented by Key Capital at 25.

Funded as part of the Culture Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.

This Thursday Lates event is a part of the Dublin by Dusk initiative in support of the Night-Time Economy After Hours at the Museum scheme.
