Study Day: Walter Osborne’s Dublin

To celebrate the exhibition and catalogue Homecoming: Walter Osborne’s Portraits of Dublin, 1880–1900, presented by the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, the curators and contributors are hosting a study day at the National Gallery of Ireland.

The day will be divided into two parts. In the morning, there will be guided visits to the Gallery's Prints and Drawings Study Room and the Centre for the Study of Irish Art for a behind-the-scenes look at a selection of drawings, photographs, and ephemera from the Osborne archive. Space is limited for these visits and will be allotted on a first-come basis. Registration is required here.

In the afternoon, the exhibition's co-curator Dr Judith Stapleton will moderate a panel discussion in our Lecture Theatre. Register for the afternoon panel discussion here

10am - 12pm

Join the exhibition’s co-curator Dr Judith Stapleton in our Lecture Theatre where she will moderate panelists for a lively discussion of Walter Osborne’s Dublin at the turn of the nineteenth century. 

The panelists are:

  • Dr Kathryn Milligan, independent scholar and assistant librarian at the Edward Murphy Library, National College of Art and Design, Dublin
  • Dr Brendan Rooney, Head Curator at the National Gallery of Ireland
  • Logan Sisley, Head of Collections at the Hugh Lane Gallery, Dublin
