Maïa Nunes: Lake Burst, a live performance

Interdisciplinary artist Maïa Nunes performs her recently released album Lake Burst at The National Gallery of Ireland, live with a full band.

Part of a body of artworks called Lake Burst, arising from her relationship with glacial Lough Bré in Glencree, her album explores the geo-mythology of lakes as sites of death and rebirth, as well as portals to the otherworld.

Like all of Maïa’s artwork, this sonic world is full of texture, symbol, mystery and myth.Her voice forms a bridge between worlds as she leads audiences on an atmospheric, layered and experimental musical journey of descent that offers a glimpse of her own personal journey of transformation and healing by lake-water.

The band of stellar musicians includes Brendan Jenkinson (Music Producer for the album and multi-instrumentalist who plays with The Villagers and John Francis Flynn), Drummer (tbc), Derek Whyte (Double Bass) and Steve Welsh (Saxophone).
