Once-in-a-generation chance to see 61 artworks by the artist in Ireland.
Organised in collaboration with Musée national Picasso-Paris and proudly supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and KMPG Ireland, Exhibition Partner.
Running 9 October – 22 February 2026
The National Gallery of Ireland has launched its latest exhibition Picasso: From the Studio, retracing the steps of Picasso’s life through a collection of sculptures, painting and ceramics. Spanning more than 50 years of work, it is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to see so many works by one of the most influential artists of the 20th century in Ireland. The exhibition is organised in collaboration with Musée national Picasso-Paris and proudly supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and KMPG Ireland, Exhibition Partner.
Opening on 9 October 2025, Picasso: From the Studio invites visitors to explore the relationship between maker and place in the context of one of the world’s most well-known artists. Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) lived surrounded by his art. His personal life and his work, his homes and his studios were always intimately linked. This exhibition highlights the various facets and phases of his art and life, exploring the key locations that defined him. From his arrival in Paris at the start of the twentieth century to his final studio Notre-Dame-de-Vie (1961-1973) in Mougins, visitors will see paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and works on paper, as well as photographic and audio-visual works.
Patrick O’Donovan, Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport said: “To present an exhibition of works by one of the world’s most renowned artists at an Irish national cultural institution is a terrific moment. I’m delighted that my Department’s support has helped the National Gallery of Ireland to bring this world-class art to our island for local and international visitors to enjoy. The Department of Culture, Communications and Sport supports the work of our national cultural institutions in continuing to showcase Ireland as a leader on the world stage in terms of arts and culture.”
Speaking on the opening of the exhibition, Dr Caroline Campbell, Director of the National Gallery of Ireland, said: “Picasso’s influence is immeasurable. By focusing on the places in which he chose to create, Picasso: From the Studio offers an exciting opportunity to connect with his artistic journey new ways. This exhibition invites us to look beyond the canvas and discover the intimacy between artist and space, shedding new light on his most celebrated works.”
Janet McLean, Curator of Modern Art at the National Gallery of Ireland said: "The exhibition shows Picasso’s versatility as an artist. While he considered himself primarily as a painter, he was exceptional in his ability to turn his hand to any medium. The range of art - paintings, ceramics, sculptures, prints, and drawings - gives a sense of his boundless curiosity, energy, and inventiveness.”
Joanne Snrech, Curator at the Musée National Picasso-Paris said: “The collaboration between the Musée national Picasso-Paris and the National Gallery of Ireland is a momentous one. This exhibition not only showcases Picasso’s incredible range of media, but also brings visitors closer to understanding the deeply personal relationship he had with the spaces wherein which he worked.”
Ryan McCarthy, Managing Partner of KPMG Ireland said: "At KPMG, we are committed to supporting cultural initiatives that enrich society and showcase both Dublin and Ireland as a great place to live and visit. Picasso: From the Studio offers a rare opportunity to explore one of the most iconic and innovative artists of the 20th century. We’re proud to help make this exhibition accessible to all, and encourage everyone to experience it firsthand."
Picasso: From the Studio reveals the artistic process and visionary output of a modern master. By placing the works within the context of their creation, the exhibition presents 60 works from captivating perspectives.
Picasso: From the Studio will open to the public on 9 October 2025 and run until 22 February 2026.

Aistear ealaíne Picasso á iniúchadh sa taispeántas is déanaí i nGailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann
Deis annamh chun 61 saothar ealaíne ón ealaíontóir a fheiceáil in Éirinn
Arna eagrú i gcomhar le Musée national Picasso-Paris, le tacaíocht ón Roinn Cultúir, Cumarsáide agus Spóirt agus KMPG Ireland, Comhpháirtí Taispeántais
Ar siúl ón 9 Deireadh Fómhair go dtí an 22 Feabhra 2026
Seo chugainn an taispeántas is déanaí ó Ghailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann, Picasso: Ón Stiúideo, ina ndéantar rianú ar shaol Picasso trí bhailiúchán dealbh, pictiúr agus earraí criadóireachta. Clúdaítear tréimhse níos mó ná 50 bliain sa taispeántas, agus is fíor-annamh a bhíonn an deis seo ann líon mór saothar ó cheann de na healaíontóirí ba mhó tionchar ón 20ú haois a fheiceáil in Éirinn. Tá an taispeántas á eagrú i gcomhar le Musée national Picasso-Paris, le tacaíocht ón Roinn Cultúir, Cumarsáide agus Spóirt agus KMPG Ireland, Comhpháirtí Taispeántais.
Beidh Picasso: Ón Stiúideo ar oscailt ón 9 Deireadh Fómhair 2025, agus tugaimid cuireadh do chuairteoirí iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar an ngaol idir déantóir agus áit i gcomhthéacs duine de na healaíontóirí is cáiliúla ar domhan. Bhí saothair ealaíne Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973) mórthimpeall air ar feadh a shaoil. Bhí a shaol pearsanta agus a shaothar, a thithe agus a stiúideonna fite fuaite lena chéile i gcónaí. Leagtar béim sa taispeántas seo ar ghnéithe agus céimeanna éagsúla dá chuid ealaíne agus dá shaol, agus breathnaítear go géar ar na háiteanna ba mhó a chuaigh i bhfeidhm air. Clúdaítear an tréimhse ón uair a tháinig sé go Páras ag tús an fhichiú haois go dtí go raibh a stiúideo deireanach aige in Notre-Dame-de-Vie (1961-1973) in Mougins, agus feicfidh cuairteoirí pictiúir, dealbha, píosaí criadóireachta, agus saothair ar pháipéar, chomh maith le grianghraif agus saothair chlosamhairc.
Dúirt Patrick O’Donovan, an tAire Cultúir, Cumarsáide agus Spóirt: “Is iontach go deo an rud é saothair le duine de na healaíontóirí is cáiliúla ar domhan a bheith ar taispeáint in institiúid chultúrtha náisiúnta in Éirinn. Tá áthas orm gur chabhraigh tacaíocht mo Roinne le Gailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann na sársaothair ealaíne seo a thabhairt go hÉirinn ionas go mbeidh cuairteoirí ón tír seo agus thar lear in ann sult a bhaint astu. Tacaíonn an Roinn Cultúir, Cumarsáide agus Spóirt leis an obair a dhéanann ár n-institiúidí cultúrtha náisiúnta agus iad ag díriú aird ar ról na hÉireann ar ardán domhanda na n-ealaíon agus an chultúir.”
Ag labhairt di agus an taispeántas á oscailt, dúirt an Dr Caroline Campbell, Stiúrthóir Ghailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann: “Bhí tionchar as cuimse ag Picasso. Toisc go ndírítear sa taispeántas seo ar na háiteanna a ndearna sé an obair chruthaitheach, is deis é Picasso: Ón Stiúideo chun ligean dá aistear ealaíne dul i bhfeidhm orainn ar bhealaí úrnua. Féadfaimid breathnú ar chomhthéacs níos leithne a shaothair, agus feicimid an dlúthchaidreamh idir an t-ealaíontóir agus a spásanna oibre, rud a thabharfaidh léargas úr dúinn ar na saothair is mó cáil dá chuid.”
Dúirt Janet McLean, Coimeádaí na Nua-Ealaíne ag Gailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann: "Léiríonn an taispeántas gurbh ealaíontóir ildánach amach is amach é Picasso. Cé gur mheas sé féin gur phéintéir é i ndáiríre, duine as an ngnáth a bhí ann mar gheall ar a gcaoi a raibh sé in ann tabhairt faoi mheán ar bith. Sna saothair éagsúla seo – pictiúir, píosaí criadóireachta, dealbha, priontaí agus líníochtaí – tugtar léargas ar an bhfiosracht gan teorainn agus ar an bhfuinneamh a bhí aige, chomh maith leis an gcruthaitheacht a bhí go smior ann.”
Dúirt Joanne Snrech, Coimeádaí ag Musée National Picasso-Paris: “Is tábhachtach an babhta comhair é seo idir an Musée National Picasso-Paris agus Gailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann. Ní hamháin go léirítear sa taispeántas seo an éagsúlacht iontach a bhaineann leis na meáin a d’úsáid Picasso, ach cuidíonn sé linn teacht ar thuiscint ar an dlúthchaidreamh pearsanta a bhí aige leis na spásanna ina mbíodh sé ag obair.”
Dúirt Ryan McCarthy, Comhpháirtí Bainistíochta KPMG Ireland: “Tá KPMG meáite ar thacaíocht a thabhairt do thionscnaimh chultúrtha a chuireann le saibhreas na sochaí agus a léiríonn arís eile gur áiteanna iontacha iad Baile Átha Cliath agus Éire chun cónaí iontu agus cuairt a thabhairt orthu. Is deis annamh é Picasso: Ón Stiúideo chun iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar dhuine de na healaíontóirí is nuálaí sa 20ú haois, agus is mó a sheasann amach. Is cúis bhróid againn an taispeántas seo a bheith inrochtana do chách, agus áitímid ar gach duine cuairt a thabhairt air.”
Léirítear sa taispeántas Picasso: Ón Stiúideo próiseas ealaíonta agus saothar físiúil sárealaíontóra a raibh máistreacht aige ar an nua-ealaín. Trí 60 saothar a chur i gcomhthéacs a gcruthaithe, tugtar léargas thar a bheith spéisiúil orthu.
Beidh Picasso: Ón Stiúideo ar oscailt don phobal ón 9 Deireadh Fómhair 2025 agus beidh sé ar siúl go dtí an 22 Feabhra 2026.
Faigheann Cairde Ghailearaí Náisiúnta na hÉireann cead isteach saor in aisce chuig gach taispeántas. Ní ghearrtar aon táille ach oiread ar leanaí (18 mbliana d'aois agus faoina bhun), ar iarratasóirí ar chosaint idirnáisiúnta, ar dhídeanaithe ná ar chúramóirí. Tá cead isteach saor in aisce do chách chuig an taispeántas maidin Dé Céadaoin agus €5 a ghearrtar ar na ticéid tráthnóna Déardaoin.
Ba mhaith leis an nGailearaí buíochas a ghabháil leis an Roinn Cultúir, Cumarsáide agus Spóirt as an tacaíocht a thugann sí dúinn agus le KPMG as tacú leis an taispeántas seo.
