Audible: A sound/video portrait of the University of Limerick Vikings American Football Team, 2024
Video
'Audible (a play called by the quarterback at the line of scrimmage) is a 60-minute sound/video portrait of the University of Limerick Vikings American Football Team. The piece captures players in a still, meditative state, offering a stark contrast to the intense physicality of the sport. The accompanying selected soundtrack, (recorded during training sessions and games), evokes the energy, rhythm, and strategy of football, transforming the athletes’ silent presence into an audio-visual meditation on concentration and resilience.’ - Sean Taylor.
Sean Taylor received a Diploma in Fine Art from Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork, and was later awarded an MA in Fine Art from the University of Ulster in Belfast and a Postgraduate Scholarship from The Kunstenacademie, Rotterdam. Taylor completed a PhD at Limerick Institute of Technology, School of Art and Design in 2019. He has exhibited extensively internationally and his work is represented in both private and public collections. He has received artistic support to develop and exhibit art projects from the Arts Council of Ireland, The British Council and the Arts Council of Scotland, and other public-funded cultural organisations.
