Weekend Painting Course: From Sea to Studio

Join artist Dave West for a Turner-inspired two-day course. 

This year’s annual exhibition, Turner as Inspiration, offers visitors a rare opportunity to witness the artist’s evolving vision - from tranquil English parklands to dramatic seascapes. The exhibition is further enriched by works from artists who themselves drew inspiration from Turner’s mastery of light, colour, and atmosphere. 

Day one will take place outdoors, sketching and drawing scenes along the Dublin seafront using watercolours, pencil, ink, and chalk - materials that Turner himself used. On day two, participants will bring their sketches into the Gallery for a studio-based session, developing their outdoor studies into more finished works, just as Turner once did. This will be an experimental and thought-provoking workshop; a chance to explore Turner's techniques while creating your own expressive pieces.
