‘I am fascinated by people who seem to embody their craft, talent, or skills. When their body, mind and spirit unite in synchronous action, they reach a place that appears effortless. It is at once all knowing and performing. On this evening I attended the Macnas Halloween Parade wishing to catch members of this exceptional group reaching their peak. Daniel Guinnane, the brass band leader, was the Essence of Flow. Catching him in this state felt like the ultimate portrait.’ - Missy Brinkmeyer.

Missy Brinkmeyer is a fine art street photographer. She shoots moments, with her gut as much as her eyes. She says she senses a thing is about to happen before it happens, and tries to capture it as it does. Her practice has developed out of a deep interest in people and the human condition, and an empathy with others drives her desire to connect as well as to capture. ‘Experiences materialise,’ she says ‘as many scenes of everyday life, and expressions of it, shared or communicated, observed or imagined, catch my eye and my heart’.
