New to the Nation

An oil painting featuring a nude female figure standing before a dark empty space. Her eyes are closed; in her arms and all around her are vibrantly coloured flowers.

New acquisitions

The Gallery houses Ireland’s national collection of art, a collection that is constantly evolving through the addition of new works. These acquisitions enrich the collection for the nation.

Works of art come into the collection in various ways; some are purchased, while others are gifts and bequests from extraordinarily generous donors and benefactors. All of these acquisitions create new perspectives, new insights and, above all, new contexts for present and future generations to interpret and enjoy.
