Drop by this free pop-up display in our Reading Rooms in celebration of Art, Migration and the Politics of Belonging. 

Presented in the Gallery Reading Rooms, this special display draws from the rich holdings of the National Gallery of Ireland’s Library and Archives to explore themes of migration, identity, citizenship and cultural exchange across time. Curated by Head of Library and Archives, Andrea Lydon and Archivist Leah Benson, this multi-faceted display brings together rare books, archival documents, artists’ papers, exhibition histories and ephemera, revealing the Gallery not only as a home for art, but as a vital repository for interdisciplinary research and discovery.

Offering fascinating insights into histories of movement, influence and representation, the display highlights how archival collections can inform contemporary artistic practice, scholarship and public understanding. Visitors are invited to encounter the Library and Archives as dynamic research resources that connect art history with wider social, political and cultural narratives, opening new perspectives on belonging, memory and identity in Ireland and beyond.
