Research
Day
The Gallery's Research Day is taking place on Wednesday
3 March (10am-5pm).
A presentation will be given by Dr Tom Dunne, James Barry:
New Research and Perspectives followed by a series of papers
on art and cultural studies by post-graduates.
The Research Day is open
to the public, admission is free.
Art Studies
Thursday 25 March (6.30pm): Donald Teskey will give the concluding
talk in the Art Studies course, Donald Teskey in his own Words.

Study Day
The Role of Pioneering Women Artists
is the theme of a Study Day on Saturday 27 March (10am-4.30pm).
Speakers include Dr Nicola Gordon Bowe, Anne Hodge, Dr Joseph McBrinn,
Jennifer Goff, Dr Éimear O'Connor and Dr Hilary Pyle. It
will be chaired by the artist, Geraldine O'Reilly and Professor
Luke Gibbons, Chair of Literary and Cultural Studies, National University
of Ireland, Maynooth.

Study Morning
Still Life Painting Revealed
will be the topic of a Study Morning on Saturday 24 April (10am-1.30pm).
Speakers include Dr Adriaan Waiboer, William Gallagher, Dr Peter
Cherry, and Geraldine O'Neill. Chaired by Declan McGonagle, Director
of the National College of Art and Design. Tickets €25 &
€15 (students) (includes coffee break).
Talks
A series of talks focusing on the exhibition Taking Stock: Acquisitions
2000-2010 will take place from March to May, see calendar of
events.
Gallery 'Drawing Day'
A highlight of 'Catch up on Culture Week' will be the Gallery
Drawing Day, to be launched on Saturday 22 May by the artist
Samuel Walsh, who will lead the morning session for adults (10.30am-1pm).
The afternoon session for children and families will take place
between 3pm-4.30pm (bring A3 sketch pads, pencils & eraser).
Drawing demonstrations will be given by Alan Daly, Fintan Mahon
and Clare Henderson. This event is a North-South project, held in
association with museums countrywide - see www.nationalgallery.ie
for participating venues.
