Join us for a unique demonstration of the art of lace making with artist Fiona Harrington.

Get close up to view this painstaking, delicate process in action – a process which has changed little since the time of the characters depicted in our current exhibition, Turning Heads: Rubens, Rembrandt and Vermeer. Flanders was a centre of fine lacemaking during this time, just as Ireland became known for superior lacemaking later.

In Harrington’s art, each piece is meticulously worked by hand with thread as fine as a human hair. This thread is delicately intertwined to create a network of patterns using the single buttonhole stitch.

This Thursday Lates event is in association with Visit Flanders
