A woman in a long full-skirted white dress with small rosettes on it reclines on a chair. Standing beside her with her hand around her neck is a small child, also in white. They are both reading a book together.

Talk and Tea: Exploring The Guinness Portrait

30 April 11.00 - 12.00

Location
Millennium Wing Studio
Admission

Join art historian Jessica Fahy for this informal talk and discussion about The Guinness Portrait by Walter Frederick Osborne.

Painted when Osborne was at the height of his powers as a portrait artist, the picture is one of his finest works. The work is now the centrepiece of a new portraiture exhibition of Osborne's work on display in the Hugh Lane Room.

The talk will take place in the Education studio and will include tea/coffee biscuits and plenty of chat!

The Education Studio is on level 1 of the Gallery and is fully accessible by lift from the Clare Street Entrance. It is at the same level as the Merrion Square Entrance. Toilets, accessible toilets, baby changing, and a Changing Places facility are located near the Studio and the Education Team are on-hand to support.

This event is part of our Tuesday Talk and Tea series, an informal discussion about an aspect of the Gallery’s collection or an exhibition. It involves a short illustrated talk followed by a discussion with the audience over a cup of tea (or coffee, of course!).
