To celebrate Dublin LGBTQ Pride Festival, which takes place throughout the city from 20-30 June, we're very happy to present a series of LGBTQIA+ events exploring the history of gender and sexual identity through works and artists in our collection which are connected to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.

Join us for daily illustrated talks with a new perspective, and lunchtime pop-up talks concentrating on specific works and artists.

All very welcome, and no need to book.

OUTing the Past at the National Gallery of Ireland

On 23 March 2019, we were delighted to bring OUTing the Past: The Festival of LGBT History to Dublin for the first time. Participants enjoyed a free day of queer history, art and discussion with dynamic speakers including Panti Bliss, Joe Caslin, Stephen Moloney and Katherine O'Donnell. Thought-provoking breakout sessions explored themes including student activism, the 1916 Easter Rising and the Gallery’s LGBTQ+ artworks. To close the day in style, the historic Shaw Room provided the backdrop for a performance by Glória, Dublin's Lesbian and Gay Choir.

The video below captures some of the magic of the day!
