Three paintings were purchased through the Patrons of Irish Art fund in 2016: La Fête by Micheal Farrell; Belfast, from Greencastle by Paul Henry; and Byrne's Pub by Nevill Johnson. These paintings are currently all on view in the Orpen room in No.5 South Leinster Street. To date, the Patrons of Irish Art Fund has aided the Gallery in the purchase of several very important Irish paintings: That Grand Conversation was Under the Rose by Jack B. Yeats; the outright purchase of the self-portrait by James Latham and a contribution towards Portrait of a Young Gentleman in Rome by Hugh Douglas Hamilton; River landscape with fishermen by George Mullins; a self portrait by Francis Bindon; and An Italianate wooded river landscape, with figures by a tomb by James Forrester; a contribution towards the purchase Faust’s First Sight of Marguerite by Frederic William Burton and Allegory by Mary Swanzy HRHA.
