General ToursAvailable on a year-round basis, these tours explore the national collection and temporary exhibitions, and can be tailored to the needs of your group and your learning objectives. Understanding an Exhibition TourExplore how galleries present and interpret art, and the many elements that go into creating an exhibition. This is a specialised tour focusing on the Leaving Certificate exhibition question. Bring sketchbooks and drawing materials. Suitable for: Post-Primary (5th – 6th Year) Booking: We are not currently offering school tours. |
Sketching TourTake a closer look at the national collection on this engaging tour led by an artist from our guide panel. Learn about the history of the paintings and use sketching to observe and respond to details and techniques. This tour will aid Leaving Certificate students with the sketching component of their History of Art and Appreciation exam, but can also be adapted for different levels and ages. Interactive Tour: Pigments & PaintingExplore the materiality of paintings in this specially designed tour that brings painting materials and techniques to life. Hands-on activities with sensory objects enhances students’ learning. Suitable for: 1st class – 6th year |
