From Wednesday 20 to Sunday 24 March, Staging Canaletto, an artistic response to Canaletto and the Art of Venice from Rough Magic SEEDS will be open to the public in the Millennium Wing Studio. Presenting individual research and new artistic work conducted over three months this installation is a contemporary theatrical response to the historic exhibition.
A Live Light will be led by lighting designer John Gunning.
John will present a live art light response to Canaletto and the Art of Venice, inviting members of the public to react to Canaletto’s use of controlled natural and artificial light in his studies of the public places of Venice. Participants are invited to play with portable lighting units located in the Millennium Wing Studio, to control and display aspects of the room around them.
About John: John is an alumnus of Dublin Youth Theatre and The Lir National Academy of Dramatic Art. He is also a founding member of Malaprop Theatre ( Spirit of Dublin Fringe 2015, The Georganne Aldrich Heller Award 2017, Romily Walton-Masters Award 2018).
