Sunday 12pm-5.30pm
Closed 24-26 December and Good Friday.
Shutdown of exhibition galleries starts 15 minutes before closing time.

Curators appraise paintings, prints and drawings brought into the Gallery by members of the public on the first Thursday of each month, (except August and January), 10am-12pm.

Visitor Information

  • Children should be accompanied by an adult and supervised at all times.
  • Umbrellas, rucksacks and bags must be checked in at the cloakroom.
  • Mobile phones must be turned off.
  • Visitors may not touch the exhibits.
  • Photography and use of video or digital equipment is not permitted.
  • Smoking, eating, and drinking are prohibited outside café and restaurant areas.
  • Rooms may be subject to unavoidable short-term closure, without notice.
  • For permission to sketch and paint, contact the Education Department.

Supporting the National Gallery of Ireland
Admission to the Gallery is free. However, the Gallery welcomes donations which are used to support the many programmes provided as part of its service to the public. We suggest €3. Visitors may leave their donations in boxes located about the building.
