Lectures
In April, Professor John Dillon will give a lecture on The Glory that was Greece.

A talk by Professor George Eogan will explore the Passage Tombs at Brugh na Bóinne, Boyne Valley.
In May, Dr. Luca Crispi will give a talk on Joyce's Dubliners for Dubliners.

Exhibition Event
On Saturday 29 May (10.30am Lecture Theatre), Adrian Le Harivel, Curator of British Paintings and co-ordinator of the current exhibition, will give a talk on The Importance of Acquisitions.

Outings
Members will attend the 14th Gathering of the Friends of Museums & Galleries in Ireland (25-28 March), hosted by the Hunt Museum, Limerick. A visit to Lisnavagh House in Co. Carlow will take place in May.

Spring Trip to Greece
In May, Friends will spend ten days exploring the great treasures of Greece. Three days will be spent in Athens with visits to the Acropolis, the Agora, the Tower of the Winds and the Temple of Olympain Zeus. Highlights
will include the New Acropolis Museum, the National Archaeological Museum, the Benaki Museum and the National Gallery of Art.

A journey through central Greece will take in Ancient Delphi, site of the oracle of Apollo, the Byzantine Monastery of Osios Loúkas, followed by a trip across the Peloponnese to embrace some of the most evocative places from ancient Greece, Olympia, Mycenae, Epidauros and Náfplio,
the first capital of liberated Greece showing architectural evidence of Venetian and Ottoman occupation.

With the establishment of the Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland in 1990, the National Gallery entered into a closer relationship with the public. As a support group for the Gallery, the Friends' aim to stimulate interest in all aspects of art through a busy programme of activities which focuses not only on the Gallery's own collection, but also on art and architecture in Ireland and abroad. The Friend's weekly tours take place on Friday mornings at 10.30am. The morning tours are designed as an introduction to the National Gallery's collection.

The National Gallery of Ireland houses the world's finest collection of historic Irish paintings. The Patrons of Irish Art were established as a group within the Friends' organization to assist with acquisition of Irish works for the collection. Patrons fully participate in all Friends' events as well as special benefits and events acknowledging their support.
