A Feather in the Sky. Talk by Eve Parnell, Artist.

Eve Parnell who has exhibited at the NGI and internationally, will discuss her recent exhibition, A Feather in the Sky, held in the Pontifical Irish College in Rome. Based on works of leading Roman Baroque sculptor, Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1860), her exquisite drawings breathe new life into his sculptures in St Peter’s Basilica and other churches, turning marble into flesh with genuine movement and a huge capacity for life and love. They show Eve’s sense of wonder at the world around her, always seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary. Her themes are compassion, freedom and respect, so it is no surprise that her art captivates the viewer by its delicacy and sensitivity. ‘Eve is an artist whose talent has the power to awaken creativity in others and to alter the way in which they see and imagine the world around them’ (President Michael D. Higgins).
