Family Culture Trail (5pm to 9.30pm)
In association with Temple Bar Cultural Trust
It’s the end of the world! Come and hear the fascinating story behind The Opening of the Sixth Seal, by Irish painter, Francis Danby. Pick up a Family Culture Trail leaflet during your visit. Mediators will be in attendance throughout the evening, or discover the story of the painting for yourself with Audio Guides for children and adults, free to borrow from the Information Desk in the Millennium Wing.

Gallery Tours (5pm to 9pm)
Free guided tours of the Gallery’s permanent collection, exhibitions, and research facilities will take place throughout the evening. Max 15 per group unless otherwise stated.
On arrival, please collect your free ticket at the Gallery’s Information Desk in the Millennium Wing. Advance booking is advised for tours of the research facilities, email info@ngi.ie

Put Yourself in the Picture’ (5.30pm to 8.30pm)
Would you like to see yourself as the ‘Queen of Naples’, an ‘Irish Earl’ or a ‘Scottish Baronet’? Come to the Wintergarden Ballroom and have your picture taken in a life-size replica of one of our master paintings from the National Gallery’s collection.

‘Paintings Come to Life!’ (6pm to 8pm)
Throughout the evening, characters from some of the Gallery’s best-known paintings on display, by William Leech, William Orpen, Joshua Reynolds, Gabriel Metsu and Francisco de Goya, will come to life. See if you can spot them! Pick up an information leaflet on arrival at the Gallery, and enter our competition draw for a fabulous prize.

Entertainment - Music Acts (6pm to 9.15pm)
A variety of top-class solo performers and vocal acts will entertain visitors in the Wintergarden Café, featuring: singer-songwriters, Nigel Place, Stephen Cummins and Gerry Gormley; early music virtuoso Caitriona O’Leary; the Cappella Choir; and upcoming Dublin band Kid Coy. Drawing Demonstrations (6pm to 9pm)
Artist Eamon Colman will lead drawing demonstrations and interact with visitors in the Wintergarden Café.

Drawing Sessions for Children and Adults (6pm to 9pm)
Get creative in hands-on drawing session with artists in Rooms 16, 17 and the Atrium. Equipment is provided, and drawing and creative kits are available to borrow from the Information Desk in the MillenniumWing.

Art Cinema (6pm to 9pm)
A number of art documentary films will be screened in Room 19 during the evening.

Físfeis (from dusk to 11.30pm)
Image projections of contemporary artists’ responses to Gallery paintings. The project will involve the work of four contemporary artists, Andrew Duggan, Eoin MacDonncha, Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhride and Blaithin Mac Donnell, whose creations based on the Gallery’s collection, will be projected on to the exterior of the Millennium Wing at Clare Street.

Gallery Shop
The Gallery shop will remain open until 9.30pm, offering a wide range of handcrafted gifts, alongside the finest selection of art books in Dublin.

Wintergarden Café (Last Orders 9pm)
Special Culture Night tapas menu and wine €10. Bottled beer and wine by the glass €5.
