CONDITONS OF DISPLAY:RESEARCH & PRACTICE
Friday 6 March 2015, 10am-2pm
The National Gallery of Ireland is holding its fifth postgraduate Research Day exploring new ideas, projects and research.
As the NGI approaches 2016 and the re-opening of its historic buildings, it faces the challenges of re-hanging and re-imagining the collection, all of which will be informed by the myriad conditions and concerns of display.
In order to investigate this topic, postgraduates are invited to submit proposals for presentation at the Research Day. Papers should explore display and the conditions that inform this practice- practical solutions for art practitioners, historical conventions, museum strategies for permanent collections, education and engagement, artist vs curator, design and presentation, digital display, constraints of animating collections (financial, special, environmental) etc. Papers dealing with aspects of the NGI and its collections will also be considered.
A number of research papers will be presented concluding with a discussion and wine reception at 2pm. The event is free and open to the public. Book in advance at firstname.lastname@example.org
Proposals: No more than 250 words, 12 point font, single-spaced.
Format: Name/E-mail address/Course of Study/University/Title of paper/Proposal
Deadline: Proposals should be sent to email@example.com by 20 January 2015.
