Notice of room closures this summer at NGI

The National Gallery wishes to advise visitors that some rooms will be subject to closure through the summer period to facilitate preparations for essential repair works by the Office of PUblic Works (OPW) to the roof of the the historic buildings on Merrion Square.

Beginning Monday, June 21st 2010, and continuing throughout the summer months, the Gallery will move to close some of its rooms and progressively remove paintings from display. Initially, galleries in the Dargan Wing will be closed to facilitate these works in advance of the contractor moving on site in late September.

Whilst these room closures will impact on public programmes and services, the Gallery is committed to keeping the greater part of its collection on display to the public, and in particular the most popular pieces. The autumn show, 'Gabriel Metsu: Rediscovered Master of the Dutch Golden Age' will be displayed in the Beit Wing, starting 5 September, as scheduled.

The National Gallery of Ireland apologises to its visitors in advance for the disruption and inconvenience caused by these essential works.
