The National Gallery of Ireland’s Drawing Day will be launched by James Hanley RHA
Morning Session for Adults: 11am–1pm
Afternoon Session for Children and Families: 3pm–4pm
Drawing Day is a nationwide event started in 2004, which is held in partnership with national, regional and local museums, libraries, cultural and arts centres. The Gallery’s annual Drawing Day provides an ideal opportunity to encourage people to try their hand at sketching under the guidance of professional tutors. James Hanley RHA will lead a team of artists that includes Michelle Boyle, Fintan Mahon, Mary Kelly and Alan Daly, who will interact with visitors.
The day starts with a welcome to the Gallery and its collections followed by ideas about where and what to sketch in the Gallery spaces and environment, advice on drawing techniques and an opportunity to learn from one another. The success of Drawing Day shows that visitors wish to engage in sketching from the collections in our museums and galleries.
This event is free and no booking is necessary. Bring your own sketchbook, pencils and ideas!
