Claude Monet, 'Argenteuil Basin with a Single Sailboat', 1874. NGI.852. 

Introducing a new series in which guest speakers will explore aspects of Impressionism and provide a fresh perspective on this popular style. It will be an exciting opportunity to discover the stories behind some Impressionist paintings and to join in the discussion at the end. Following the talk you will have the chance to meet the speakers and talk to them over a glass of wine.

Lectures take place in the gallery lecture theatre each Thursday evening in October at 6.30pm, and are followed by a drinks reception in the gallery

Claude Monet and the French Landscape
Dr Frances Fowle, Senior Lecturer, French and British 19th Century Art, Senior Curator of French Art, National Gallery of Scotland. The talk will be preceded by an introduction by Sean Rainbird, Director, National Gallery of Ireland.
