Palladian Splendour - Day Outing.

Two great houses, built by the same architect, Richard Castle, are the destination for a special curatorial tour. At Russborough, Co.Wicklow the interiors, as left by Sir Alfred and Lady Beit, have been enhanced by the return of some key Milltown paintings. The first stage of restoring the walled garden is also complete. Carton, Co. Kildare, is another Palladian house, the main plasterwork again by the Lafranchini, with a Chinese room and magnificent demesne landscaped with trees and an artificial lake. Our tour will be followed by lunch.

This is a Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland event. Advance booking is required. Visit the Friends Desk in the Millennium Wing; phone (01) 661 9877; or email friends@ngi.ie
