Thursday 27 December: 9.30am–8.30pm
Friday 28- Saturday 29 December: 9.30am-5.30pm
Sunday 31 December: 12.00pm-5.30pm
Monday 1 January: 10am-5.30pm

Normal hours resume from 2 January 2013

Christmas Family Art Holiday

A lively programme is planned for the festive season with activites for all ages. The annual Christmas Family Art Holiday (27-29 December, daily 3-4.30pm) will include a programme of artist-led workshops, tours of the exhibitions, and music recitals. Admission is free, no booking required.

Talks, Tours & Films 

There will be regular tours of the collection over the Christmas and New Year period. On Sunday December 29, our 3pm Sunday lecture will be Seasonal Images of Winter, with Jackie Ryan, Art Historian. January's lectures will be on the theme of Turner and the Golden Age of British Painting. From 1-5 January there will be a free screening of an Art Documentary at 2.30pm daily.

Opening on January 1: JMW Turner at the National Gallery of Ireland 

Opening in January is JMW Turner at the National Gallery of Ireland, the Gallery's annual exhibition featuring the celebrated Vaughan Bequest of watercolours. 1-31 January in the Print Gallery. Admission free.

Imagining the Divine

On Display: Masterpieces, Art Surpassing Nature, and Imagining the Divine.

There are a number of displays currently open in the National Gallery - as well as Masterpieces from the Collection, a presentation of some of the Gallery's finest works of art, there is an exhibition of Dutch landscapes called Art Surpassing Nature (Room 13), and Imagining the Divine (Room 1).
