As the longest-running museum activity in Ireland, the Art Holiday is now firmly part of the post-Christmas traditional outing in Dublin and continues to be a popular event for all the family. An extended programme this year will take place over five days, from 27th to 31st December, with family art workshops, music and tours.

This weekend sees the start of a new Sunday opening hour for the National Gallery of Ireland. From November 2nd, the Gallery will open its doors to the public at the earlier time of 11am on Sundays, replacing the previous public opening time of 12pm. The Gallery Shop and Café will also be open from 11am on Sundays.

To mark the 150th anniversary of the National Gallery of Ireland, 56 Irish writers have contributed poems, essays and stories to an anthology. An exhibition displaying the featured works will be formally opened by President Michael D. Higgins on Tuesday 7 October.

Hennessy and the National Gallery of Ireland today announced the 12 finalists chosen for the Hennessy Portrait Prize 2014. Selected by an esteemed panel of judges, the 12 finalists were chosen from more than 400 entries from artists living in Ireland and Irish artists abroad.
