Walter Osborne was 25 years old when he wrote this letter to his father while on a painting trip to the small village of North Littleton near Stratford-Upon-Avon. The young artist begins by informing his father that he is ill but goes on to describe a painting he has recently finished and one that he is working on of a young girl feeding chickens. He provides a delicate sketch of this composition on the second page of the letter. He also comments on the weather and food and gives his opinion of the local people.
