Crampton Gore was an accomplished painter who initially trained as a doctor. He studied at the Slade School, London under Henry Tonks, where he befriended William Orpen. He regularly exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy (1905-1939) and was elected an Associate member in 1916 and a full member in 1918.
