Public Tours

Free tours of the permanent collection and current exhibitions take place every Saturday at 12.30pm, and every Sunday at 11.30am, 12.30pm and 1.30pm. The Saturday tour is a Family Tour, which will encourage families with children of all ages to discover our artworks.

School Tours

Free tours are available to Irish primary and secondary schools, but must be booked in advance. There is a charge for guided tours for schools from overseas.

New Parents' Tours

These tours are for all parents, guardians and carers of infants and children. Tours take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 2pm.  See 'What's On' for the next New Parent's tour.

Accessibility Tours

The Gallery regularly offers tours for the deaf and hearing impaired, the visually impaired and the blind.

Guided Tours for private groups

Guided tours of the collection may be booked for private groups, schools and university groups, special interest groups and individuals. A minimum of 2 weeks notice is required. Bookings will be accepted up to 3 months in advance. Groups may choose a general tour or specify a theme in advance. There is a charge for private guided tours.

Special Gift Tours

Have you ever thought of giving a member of your family or a friend a gift of a personal tour of the National Gallery of Ireland? This special gift gives the recipient the opportunity to view the Gallery's treasures guided by one of our team. Tour Gift Vouchers (Price: €50.00) are available from the Gallery Shop.

Gallery Refurbishment Programme

Please be aware that many artworks will not be on show during the Gallery’s refurbishment programme. Guided tour group numbers may also be reduced to 15 or less in certain cases determined by environmental conditions in the gallery
