Drawing in the Gallery

Advanced Drawing Studies, Baroque Gallery

Drawing Courses

Several drawing courses and one-off drawing classes take place in the Gallery throughout the year. Delivered by a panel of artists, the courses are intended to provide an introduction to the techniques of drawing, by using the Gallery together with its paintings and sculptures as a basis for tuition. All levels of ability are welcome to attend.

Drawing Day 2012

Drawing Day

Morning Session for Adults 11am-1.00pm

The National Gallery ‘Drawing Day’ will take place on Saturday 19 May led by Una Sealy, ARHA.

Drawing Day provides an ideal opportunity to encourage people to try their hand at drawing and sketching under the guidance of professional tutors. While drawing is a universal language understood by everyone regardless of age, language, nationality or education, it often takes support and encouragement to help people to take the first steps to draw. Although most adults claim that they can’t draw, the success of these sessions has proven that there is renewed interest in mark-making and a genuine desire to try sketching.

Drawing Day, started in 2004 by the Gallery’s Education Department, has since developed into a nationwide event, held in partnership with national and local cultural centres.

As this event is free and no booking is necessary, please bring drawing tools such as an A3 sketch book, soft pencils, charcoal and an eraser.
