Art for All Ages

Art for All Ages is a programme for older people that involves a great variety of art activities in a relaxed and informal setting to encourage participants to become confident ‘about art’ as a result of their engagement with the Gallery.  All events are free and no booking is necessary.

The programme takes place on the second Wednesday of the month from January to November at 3.00pm. Events include Curator’s tours, creative writing workshops, life drawing workshops and more.

3pm, Wednesday 11 January
Workshop: Capturing Turner’s Light in Pastels, with Jane Bowe
Be inspired by Turner’s art and emulate his style in chalk pastels

3pm, Wednesday 8 February
Workshop: Exploring Stained Glass, with Caomhán Mac Con Iomaire
Create a design for stained glass inspired by old master and modern artists

3pm, Wednesday 14 March
Creative Writing Workshop: Recollections & Reminiscences, with Kate Dempsey
Looking at  Nichol’s St Patrick’s Day, explore your memories of past festivals

3pm, Wednesday 11 April
Life Drawing Workshop – Traditional Portraiture, with Mary Noonan
With a live model, develop your skill at drawing the body in different ways

3pm, Wednesday 9 May
Cities of Music: Rome,  Dresden and Florence, with Adrian le Harivel
Look at the art of 18th Century Italy and the Grand Tour, and hear about the popular music of the time

3pm, Wednesday 13 June
Masterpieces Conservation Tour, with Muirne Lydon
Explore the challenges our conservation team face
